High School Sports Back

Siuslaw winter sports are underway this week with a home basketball doubleheader on Wednesday against Taft. The girls play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game, with both games airing on KCST beginning at 5:15. The Vikings then head to the Coquille Winter Lake Classic for games on Friday and Saturday. On the mat, the wrestling teams open their season on the road, with the girls competing Friday at the Deven Dawson Invitational in Harrisburg and the boys Saturday at the Perry Burlison Invitational at Cascade High School.

Ducks Lose 4th Straight

The Oregon Ducks dropped their fourth straight game Tuesday, falling 82–77 to No. 24 USC in their Big Ten opener at Matthew Knight Arena. Playing without injured senior Nate Bittle, Oregon stayed within a point several times late but was outrebounded 23–12 in the second half and missed eight free throws. Kwame Evans Jr. led the Ducks with 23 points and nine rebounds. Oregon is hopeful Bittle can return Saturday at UCLA.

Women’s Basketball

The lady Ducks and Beavers square off this evening at Matthew Knight arena at 6pm.  the Oregon State Beavers men’s team will host Vermont this evening. Game time on KCFM is 6pm.
