Viking Basketball

The Viking girls showed up in a big way last night at Glen Butler Court. Defeating Reedsport 50-10 led by number 32 freshman guard Ryleigh Panschow.  Maely Chiang and Claire Mcneill each added 6 in the lopsided win. The boys move to 2-2 on the season with a 53-45 come from behind win over Reedsport.

Mapleton Basketball

The Mapleton boys fell to North Douglas 53-41 the girls also lost 44-33.

Ducks Earn Recognition

The Oregon Ducks are just 10 days away from their College Football Playoff matchup with James Madison, and more accolades are coming in for the team. Six Ducks were named to the Associated Press all–Big Ten teams on Tuesday. Emmanuel Pregnon, Kenyon Sadiq, and Dillon Thieneman earned first-team honors, while Bear Alexander, Bryce Boettcher, and Brandon Finney Jr. were selected to the second team. Oregon was also announced as a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, recognizing the nation’s top offensive line. Center Iapani Laloulu is a finalist for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year. Last week, 24 Ducks received all-Big Ten recognition from coaches and media. The No. 5 Ducks host No. 12 seed James Madison in the playoff’s first round on December 20 at Autzen Stadium.

Soccer Honors for Vikings

Three Siuslaw Vikings have earned OSAA all-state soccer honors. Senior defender Joel Bates was named to the boys second team. Senior forward Kale Jensen earned a spot on the boys third team, and junior midfielder Aydell Cadet was selected to the girls third team.
