Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior Viking Wrestler Jacob Mann as this week’s Athlete of the Week. In this past weekend’s North Bend Coast Classic Jacob scored a second place finish in the 285 pound weight class barely losing in the final seconds of the Championship match.
Honorable mention goes to lady Viking basketball freshman Ryleigh Panschow who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds in last weeks game against Reedsport and followed it up with 9 rebounds in their game against Waldport.
College Hoops
The Oregon Ducks host Portland tonight at 8 p.m. in Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon leads the all-time series 53–10 and is 4–0 under head coach Dana Altman. The Ducks won last season’s meeting 80–70 in overtime. Jackson Shelstad recently eclipsed 1,000 career points on 12/6 at UCLA, becoming the 40th player in program history to reach that mark. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KCST beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Oregon State hosts Sam Houston tonight, marking the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Beavers have won three straight games and are playing the final contest of a five-game homestand. Oregon State has been strong at home, winning 17 of its last 20 games in Gill Coliseum, while shooting nearly 78 percent from the free throw line this season. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KCFM beginning at 6 p.m.
