The Siuslaw Vikings middle school wrestling team captured the district championship Monday, finishing first with 223 team points. Several Viking wrestlers earned individual district titles, including Abigail Mills at 170 pounds on the girls side, along with Kollin Griffin at 75, Felix Brady at 85, Trey Bernhardt at 117, and Cameron Davis at 160 for the boys. Siuslaw also saw strong performances from Alex Copas, who placed second at 195 pounds, and Logan Eichelberger, who finished third at 160. Multiple Vikings reached the podium across weight classes, contributing to the team’s overall district title.
College Basketball
The Oregon men’s basketball team picked up its second straight win Wednesday night, beating Portland 94 to 69 at Matthew Knight Arena. Five Ducks scored in double figures as Oregon posted a season-high 23 assists and knocked down 13 three-pointers. Kwame Evans Junior led the way with 21 points, while Nate Bittle scored 18. Oregon improves to 6 and 5 and will face Gonzaga in Portland on Sunday.
The Oregon State men’s basketball team dropped an 85–75 decision to Sam Houston Wednesday night at Gill Coliseum. Josiah Lake the Second led the Beavers with 19 points, while Keziah Ekissi added 13 off the bench. Dez White finished with 11. Oregon State shot 44 percent from the floor and played without Johan Munch due to illness. The Beavers travel to Arizona State on Sunday.
The Oregon Duck women will face Portland this evening while the Beaver ladies will face Montana State tomorrow from Hawaii.
