Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Mapleton Sailor junior Abbi Galvan Mendez as our Athlete of the Week. Abbi recorded a double-double against Crow with 19 points and 11 rebounds, adding three deflections, two assists, and a steal. She shot 67 percent from two, is averaging 16.5 points per league game, and leads the Sailors in rebounds and free-throw percentage.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention this week goes to senior Siuslaw Viking Tom Morgan. Morgan is averaging 12 points per game in key wins over Harrisburg and Toledo. His defense has been outstanding, holding opposing teams’ top scorers to under five points per game, while averaging three-and-a-half steals per game during that stretch.
Duck Basketball
The Oregon Ducks Men’s basketball team is on the road this evening in Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers. The Cornhuskers are ranked 8th in the nation with a 16-0 record.
