A Change in Districting for Football

The Siuslaw Vikings could be playing in a five-school OSAA 3A football league starting this fall. A draft proposal from the Football Ad Hoc Committee places Siuslaw in Special District 4 alongside Brookings-Harbor, Coquille, Douglas, and Sutherlin. The change comes as South Umpqua moves up to 4A, reducing the district from six schools. The committee is expected to make a final recommendation on Jan. 22, with the OSAA Executive Board scheduled to vote Feb. 3.

Ducks Drop Another

Oregon Ducks couldn’t keep pace after halftime in a 90–55 loss to No. 8 Nebraska Tuesday night. The Ducks led briefly early but were outscored 48–25 in the second half as Nebraska pulled away at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Wei Lin led Oregon with 14 points as the Ducks fell to 8–9 on the season.

Beavers and LMU

Oregon State hosts Loyola Marymount tonight at Gill Coliseum, with the Beavers holding a 4–2 all-time edge in the series. Oregon State is 19–5 over its last 24 home games and is shooting better than 76 percent from the free-throw line this season. Coverage of the Beavers airs on KCFM this evening at 6:30.
