The Emeralds bullpen was so depleted they had to use their starting first-baseman, Zach Kometani, to throw in the eighth inning yesterday afternoon in an 8-2 loss to the Aqua Sox in Everett. Eugene used five pitchers in the loss, on top of the six pitchers they used at home Saturday in an 11-inning 5-4 win over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The Ems won a 5-1 decision Friday over the Volcanoes as well.
