OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – A Portland woman who used her job as a
payroll employee to steal from a Canby grass seed company has been
sentenced to eight years in prison and ordered to repay Rose
Agri-Seed more than $194,000. Teresa Eulalia Torres pleaded guilty
to theft charges in a plea agreement in Clackamas County Circuit
Court. The Oregonian reports she created fictional employees to
receive paychecks. She has previous theft convictions in 1992 and
2002 for taking money from companies Multnomah and Washington
counties.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man who was shot last night at a home in
northeast Portland died early this morning at a hospital. The
fatally wounded man was found by officers responding to a report of
a shooting. Police are looking for a suspect they say knew the
48-year-old victim.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Mayors and police from Oregon, Washington
and Vancouver, British Columbia, have pledged to cooperate in
fighting drug, gun and sex trafficking crimes that use Interstate
5. The Oregonian reports they agreed during a meeting in Portland
yesterday to share crime data and consider joint crime-fighting
operations to address regional problems such as gangs.

COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – Oregon crab fishermen have recovered 481
lost pots from the ocean bottom and returned them to their owners.
The Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission said yesterday this is the
first year the Oregon fleet has taken over the program started two
years under a federal stimulus grant. The lost gear can foul up
whales and salmon fishing gear.
