SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon prison officials are preparing for the
state’s first execution in 14 years as death row inmate Gary Haugen
faces lethal injection on Dec. 6. Officials are giving reporters a
look today at the execution room at the state penitentiary in
Salem. Haugen was already serving time for one killing when he was
sentenced to death in 2007 for killing another inmate.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Salem spent nearly $15,000 on police overtime
last weekend sending officers to Portland to help evict Occupy
Portland demonstrators from downtown parks. Police tell the
Statesman Journal 22 people went to Portland. Salem officers were
on front lines for three hours and then on standby for three more
hours.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a car driven by a missing
Portland teen has been found. The 1986 Jaguar was found overnight
but 18-year-old Henry Willard Smith is still missing. Police said
today concern for his welfare has increased because he hasn’t been
seen since around 6 p.m. Wednesday in downtown Portland. Police say
he’s endangered by a mental health situation.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A truck driver for Goodwill Industries has
been accused of stealing so many donations from the charity it took
a tractor-trailer rig to haul away the evidence. Washington County
sheriff’s detectives arrested Jason Baca of Cornelius and jailed
him yesterday on theft charges. He’s accused of sorting through
donations and taking what he wanted. Detectives went to his home
and found thousands of DVDs, CDs, video games, hundreds of shoes
and 10 big screen TVs.
