The Siuslaw Vikings jumped to an early 14-nothing start, but the La Salle Falcons inched back, eventually taking the lead and holding onto it for a 45-40 win in the OSAA 4A State Football Final Saturday afternoon in Hillsboro. The Far West League Champion Vikings ended the season 12-1 overall… the second best season ever in Siuslaw history.
Prep Basketball:
The Viking Girls started the prep basketball season on the road Friday night falling to Junction City 37-25. Sutherlin demolished Reedsport 70- 23. Mapleton beat Crow 42-28.
At the Crow Tipoff Tourney, for the boys, Mapleton fell to Mohawk 36-47, then downed Alsea 53-36.
