PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested three people near an
Occupy Portland protest at the city’s port. Police say they also
found a gun and a sword when they pulled over a car with two men
inside. The men said they were an advance team for the
demonstration. An Occupy Portland spokeswoman says the men were not
associated with the group. A third person was arrested driving a
stolen car.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police have set up an “isolation area”
within 300 feet of the explosion that killed a man outside a home
in a Canby neighborhood. Canby Fire Department spokesman Troy
Buzalsky told The Oregonian some residents will likely have to stay
inside their homes and others will be kept outside the zone until
midday today.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Department of Transportation has
received applications for 70 projects seeking a share of lottery
proceeds aimed at improving air, rail, transit and water
connections in the state. The Statesman Journal says projects
include rehabilitation of Salem’s downtown transit mall and repairs
of Willamette Valley Railway Co. bridges. There’s about $40 million
available for the projects.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say they’ve found no sign of a
man who fell from a boat taking part in a Christmas parade in the
Columbia River and are presuming that he drowned. KGW-TV reports
that the 43-year-old man fell from the Trilogy Saturday night as it
was moored at the St. Helens Marina.
