NEWBERG, Ore. (AP) – Newberg police say a 20-year-old woman has
been flown to a Portland hospital after suffering a rifle shot to
the abdomen. Capt. Jeff Kosmicki says police responded yesterday to
a call about shots being fired and found the injured woman. The
officer says the woman had just handed the rifle to a 19-year-old
male friend who pulled the trigger, thinking the rifle was
unloaded. The victim was not immediately identified.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man driving from the Oregon
coast to southwest Washington with his three children was arrested
for investigation of drunken driving after the car stalled near a
Portland bridge. Officers responded to a report of a stalled car
Monday evening and wound up arresting Daniel Lee Sherman. Lt.
Robert King says police later learned the children had been texting
their grandmother with concerns about their father’s driving.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Eugene officials say the last of the Occupy
Eugene protest campers have agreed to leave a park. The city says
security lighting was removed from Washington-Jefferson Park
