Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Vandals damaged banks in two Portland
neighborhoods overnight. Police say they shattered windows and
doors and damaged ATM machines at a branch in the Sunnyside
neighborhood and also at two banks and a Starbucks in the Hollywood
business district. KGW reports an email sent to the media claimed
responsibility by a group of anti-capitalists. The email said the
vandalism was in preparation for a downtown march planned by the
Occupy Portland group.

KEIZER, Ore. (AP) – Keizer police investigating burglaries
served a search warrant last night at a residence and made a
discovery. They found numerous property items that had been stolen
in several burglaries in Keizer, Salem and Marion County. Officers
detained five people and arrested a sixth person for a probation

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Springfield man accused of faking cancer
to collect donations has pleaded not guilty to felony theft charges
in Lane County. The charges against Charles Embleton were added in
a recent grand jury indictment. He was originally charged last fall
with theft by deception.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Rural legislators say a budget-slashing
plan to cut detectives from the Oregon State Police will affect
rural areas the most. In a last-ditch effort to rescue positions
that they say are critical to public safety in sparsely-populated
areas, the legislators yesterday said they found $6 million to
stave off some of the proposed cuts. The state police expect to
lose 12 detective positions. Earlier this year, it had anticipated
losing up to 25 detectives.
