Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Police say a Medford man stabbed his
roommate with a meat thermometer during a fight. Sgt. Brent Mak
says the victim was treated at a hospital yesterday for a minor
wound to his ribcage. Forty-eight-year-old Christopher Schroeder
was cited for assault and menacing and released without bail. The
Mail Tribune reports Schroeder was arrested at gunpoint because of
an initial report that he was armed with a handgun, which was not
the case.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Lane County prosecutors say a Eugene
resident was justified in killing an intruder suspected of trying
to rob him of drugs and cash. While Tyler Norman was not charged in
the Feb. 2 shooting, he did plead guilty yesterday to a separate
charge of delivering heroin and was sentenced to three years’
probation. Prosecutors say the shooting of Sawn Connelly of
Springfield was a lawful use of force. Connelly had been released
from jail four hours before he was killed.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An office manager who embezzled $250,000
from her employer and spent some of the money on breast
enhancements has been sentenced in Portland to nearly five years in
prison. Lisa Marie Sundquist had pleaded guilty to theft of the
money in 2008 and 2009 when she worked as office manager for the
Surgical Specialty Group.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Police say the pedestrian who was struck and
killed last night in Salem appears to be a transient. The
43-year-old man wearing dark clothing was in the middle of the road
when he was struck by a car driven by an 18-year-old. There was
heavy rainfall at the time.
