PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average
price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $4.11. That’s up 5 cents
in a week and is 18 cents higher than the national average. Some
metro prices from the survey — Portland $4.09, Salem $4.11,
Eugene-Springfield $4.15, Medford-Ashland $4.17.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a weekend shooting in Portland
was the 31st gang shooting of the year in the city, compared with
17 at the same time last year. Police say a 22-year-old man was
standing on the porch of a house where a gang party was under way
when he was shot and critically wounded. KATU-TV reports the man
has a criminal record that includes arrests for felony assault,
domestic violence, drug and gun charges.

ESTACADA, Ore. (AP) – A 21-year-old man who drowned on Lake
Harriet near Estacada was a volunteer with the Colton Fire
Department. Clackamas County deputies say Justin Fraijo of Colton
was fishing with his brother Saturday when their boat overturned.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – A tree on the Oregon State University
campus with a reputation for romance is being honored as a state
heritage tree. The gray poplar was planted in 1982 from a cutting
from the original tree known as the “trysting tree.” It was a
meeting place for couples on campus going back almost to its
origins as Oregon Agricultural College.
