ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) – Jeff Keppinger hit a two-run homer and Desmond Jennings added a two-run triple to help the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Seattle Mariners 4-3 yesterday to complete a four-game sweep. Jeff Niemann (2-3) allowed three runs and seven hits over 5 1-3 innings as the Rays extended their winning streak to five with their 11th victory in 12 games. The Mariners concluded 10-day, 10-game road trip with a season-high six-game losing streak. The skid came right after a four-game winning streak that included a sweep of Detroit to begin their three-city trip. The Rays scored all of their runs in the second inning.

SEATTLE (AP) – With the inclusion of the Argentinian national team that was highly successful at last year’s Pan-Am Games and Washington’s own top-ranked men’s crew, the 2012 version of the Windemere Cup has a decidedly Olympic feel. But that feel has more to do with the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and not so much this summer’s games in London. Tomorrow’s regatta that kicks off boating season in the Puget Sound region features Washington, Argentina, Oregon State and Virginia on the men’s side. The women’s marquee race will pit Washington against Argentina and local foe Gonzaga.
