BOSTON (AP) – Jon Lester pitched his second complete game of the season and Daniel Nava and Kelly Shoppach each homered, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 6-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday. David Ortiz and Adrian Gonzalez added consecutive RBI doubles for the Red Sox, who won their fourth straight at home. Boston is on its longest home winning streak since capturing nine in a row last July. The Mariners, on the second stop of a four city, 11-game trip, have lost four of six.

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – Alaskan Brewing Co. received three medals at this year’s World Beer Cup competition in San Diego. The Juneau Empire reports that the competition involved nearly 4,000 beers judged from 54 different countries in 95 categories. Brewer’s Association President Charlie Papazian says the competition is considered the Olympics of beer competitions. Alaskan Brewing’s Alaskan Amber Ale won a silver medal in the Irish Red Ale category. Judges from 27 countries determined the winners.
