TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) – Talks between the Reynolds School District and teachers union went through the night but there was no agreement by the 6 a.m. strike deadline in a year-long contract dispute. The Facebook page for the Reynolds Education Association says it’s officially on strike. The union represents about 600 teachers in the east Portland suburb of Troutdale. The district had already canceled today’s classes because of the strike threat.

GATES, Ore. (AP) – Linn County deputies are still searching for the body of a 5-year-old boy in the North Santiam River near Gates. The boy fell into the river Friday while his father was fishing at Niagara Park. His father and another man jumped in to rescue the boy. The father made it out but Eric Johnson and 5-year-old Anthony Berlin were swept away. Divers found Johnson’s body but not the boy’s.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A man was found dead in a car parked on the side of Highway 26 about 1 a.m. today four miles east of Manning. Oregon State Police say traffic was detoured for the investigation of the suspicious death.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $4.23. That’s up 6 cents in a week and 17 cents in a month. Some metro prices — Portland $4.20, Salem $4.20, Eugene-Springfield $4.26, Medford-Ashland $4.27.
