LOS ANGELES (AP) – Nneka Ogwumike (ah-GWOO’-mih-kay) scored with 2.5 seconds remaining to lift the Los Angeles Sparks to a 67-65 win over the Seattle Storm last night. Ogwumike took an inbound pass and made a right hand running shot over Ann Wauters as the Sparks beat Seattle for the third time in 16 days. Los Angeles prevailed despite shooting a season-worst 34.9 percent from the field. Kristi Toliver led the Sparks with 23 points. Katie Smith led Seattle with 19 points while Sue Bird added 12.

CHICAGO (AP) – Chris Sale pitched a five-hitter for his first major league complete game and the Chicago White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2 for their 10th win in 11 tries. Sale struck out eight and walked two. It was his 10th start this year after pitching in relief for Chicago the last two seasons. In Sale’s previous start, he struck out 15 in 7 1-3 innings at Tampa Bay. Sale allowed White Sox manager Robin Ventura to rest his entire bullpen after using all seven relievers in Saturday’s 12-inning loss.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Alex Edward hit a game-tying double in the ninth, Austin Nola scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the 10th, and LSU outlasted Oregon State 6-5 last night to win the NCAA tournament’s Baton Rouge regional. Oregon State, playing as the home team on LSU’s field, led 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth, but Tigers relievers Nick Rumbelow, Chris Cotton and Nick Goody shut out the Beavers the rest of the way. Reliever Dylan Davis took the loss for the Beavers.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Jake Reed pitched seven scoreless innings as Oregon beat Austin Peay 8-1 on Sunday night and advanced out of the NCAA regionals for the first time since 1954. Brett Thomas had three RBIs for Oregon, which reinstated baseball in 2009 after the university eliminated the sport in 1981. The Ducks will play Kent State at home next weekend in the super regionals. Oregon went 3-0 at the regional, and Sunday got its second victory against the Governors.
