Eugene scored three runs in the top half of the first inning and never trailed on the way to a 6-1 Northwest League win yesterday over the Volcanoes in Keizer.  Jeremy Baltz continued his run at the plate, going three-for-five with two RBI and one run scored.  The Emeralds best hitter so far, Baltz has accumulated a .370 batting average as Eugene improves to five-and-seven in league play.  The Emeralds and Volcanoes wrap up their three game series this evening.

The Three Rivers Sandblasters will hit the road for a weekend of non-league tournament play in southern Oregon for the Medford tournament… they’ll be back in Florence Monday afternoon for two games against Corvallis.
