PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man has surrendered after he allegedly stabbed a 10-year-old boy and then barricaded himself inside a Northeast Portland Wendy’s restaurant. The Oregonian reports the man surrendered to police yesterday afternoon. He was identified as 49-year-old Adam Lee Brown. Police say the boy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Hospital officials say they have changed some procedures to try to prevent future deaths like the 23-year-old woman who died in April after choking on a small medication bottle. Procedural changes now mean staff members will include a patient’s risk factors on daily sheets that typically record a patient’s mood and other noteworthy items.

SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – A 24-year-old from the Willamette Valley has won the Miss Oregon pageant. The Oregonian reports Rachel Berry was crowned late Saturday night. She is an aspiring television news correspondent who is currently writing a book about holding onto big dreams after graduating college. Berry competed against 23 other women at the 67th Miss Oregon pageant.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland has experienced its second wettest June on record. KGW-TV says, including Saturday’s rain, a total of 4.08 inches of rain was recorded at Portland International Airport in June. The wettest June on record at the airport was in 2010, when the total for the month was 4.27 inches. Forecasters are predicting the rain is going to stop by July 4th.
