SEATTLE (AP) – Chris Tillman gave up just two hits in 8 1-3 innings in first start of 2012, Adam Jones hit his 20th home run of the season into the upper deck in left field, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1. Tillman took a one-hitter into the ninth but Michael Saunders reached on an error and John Jaso’s one-out double on Tillman’s 125th pitch ended his day.

SEATTLE (AP) – Mariners rookie catcher Jesus Montero left yesterday’s game against Baltimore after taking a hard foul ball off his mask and needing to be helped off the field. Montero was staggered and knocked backward when Robert Andino’s foul ball in the fifth inning hit Montero in the mask just above the opening for his vision. He was down on one knee for several minutes.

SEATTLE (AP) – The Baltimore Orioles recalled right-hander Chris Tillman from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned right-hander Steve Johnson back to the minors. The Orioles made the roster moves before yesterday’s series finale in Seattle, where Tillman was making his first start of the season. Tillman was 8-8 with a 3.63 ERA in 16 games with Norfolk this season.

SANDY, Utah (AP) – Real Salt Lake played to a 0-0 draw with Seattle last night, snapping a three game losing streak and extending the Sounders’ franchise-record winless streak to nine games. Seattle dropped to 0-4-5 during their winless stretch.
