PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for fire danger in Oregon’s upper Hood River Valley and the western Columbia River Gorge. According to the warning, the combination of lightning, strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures will create “explosive fire growth potential.” The warning is in effect until 2 tomorrow afternoon.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 56-year-old man shot by deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has died of his injuries. Jeffery David Anderson, of Aloha, died yesterday morning at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland after being shot Saturday night. Authorities say deputies responded to reports of a gunman in Aloha and discovered a man armed with a rifle.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Gresham shooting that left a man dead. Police Sgt. Claudio Grandjean says David Louis Marshall has been taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Seattle. KGW said earlier Marshall was a suspect in Thursday’s death of 31-year-old Dennis Frazier III at an apartment on Northeast Oregon Street.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Coos Bay woman says the man charged with manslaughter in her brother’s death should not have been released from jail pending his trial. The Register-Guard reports that 33-year-old Aaron Earl Curry was one of nearly 100 inmates released from Lane County Jail after the sheriff’s budget was cut by about $10 million. He is wearing an ankle bracelet.
