Sandblasters Fall Short

Trouble came in twos last night for the Three Rivers Sandblasters.  They trailed by two late in the game; had two on base; and there were two outs.  But a rally was underway and it looked promising against the Springfield Titans.  Travis Gallagher advanced to third on a bunt but overran the bag and had no where to go but home.  He was tagged out at the plate, ending the game suddenly with the Titans coming out on top 3-1.

Springfield is tied with West Salem-Dallas with 8-2 records at the top of the league; Three Rivers Falls to 4-6; four games back.  The ‘Blasters are back on the diamond this afternoon in Corvallis for two games.  The first pitch is at four o’clock; airtime on Coast Radio Sports will be at 3:45.

Emeralds Jump Ahead Early

The Eugene Emeralds scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, cruising to a 4-1 win over the Spokane Indians last night.  The Ems put up nine hits and capitalized on two errors… but committed three errors of their own as they improved to 14-and-11 on the year, 4 ½ games behind Everett in the West Division.  The Indians and Emeralds meet in game two of five this evening in Spokane.
