NEW YORK (AP) – Raul Ibanez (rah-OOL ‘ih-BAHN’-yehz) homered and drove in three runs as Freddy Garcia and the New York Yankees wrapped up a long and losing homestand with a win, beating the Seattle Mariners 6-2 yesterday. Garcia got his 150th career victory while Ichiro (EE’-cheer-oh) Suzuki continued to be a one-hit wonder for the AL East leaders.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Still looking for wide receiver help, the Seattle Seahawks are bringing Terrell Owens in for a tryout. The Seahawks confirmed a report from KJR-AM in Seattle late last night that Owens would be working out for the Seahawks on Monday. The team is off today before returning to practice tomorrow. Owens hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2010 season.

SEATTLE (AP) – Eddie Johnson scored just five minutes into the game for his team-leading 10th goal of the season, and Seattle teammates Fredy Montero, Alex Caskey and Andy Rose added second-half tallies for the Sounders in a 4-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy played before more than 60,000 fans last night. The Sounders won their second game in a row.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Jack Jewsbury scored on a volley in the 71st minute last night to lift the Timbers into a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas that snapped Portland’s five-game losing streak. Scott Sealy scored for Dallas off a cross from Brek Shea in the 51st minute of the matchup between the bottom two teams in the Western Conference. The Timbers outshot Dallas 19-8.
