MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Medford woman who caught a burglar in her home says he was begging her to call police after the beating she gave him. Kathlene Brown says she found the man in her bedroom when she returned from work early Sunday. She says she punched him in the face, grabbed him by the ears and knocked him in the head with her knee before kicking, choking and biting him. The 23-year-old man faces burglary and other charges.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Shady Grove woman who dumped a Crock Pot of hot water on her boyfriend has pleaded guilty in Jackson County to assault and recklessly endangering another. The judge sentenced 51-year-old Terry Hatfield to three years’ probation and ordered her to stay away from intoxicants and the victim. The Mail Tribune reports the man who suffered second- and third-degree burns in the June incident spoke in court on her behalf.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two college students who robbed two credit union branches in 2010 have been sentenced in Portland to five years’ probation, avoiding prison. Brittney Caudle and Emma Westhusing pleaded guilty to bank robbery charges for holdups at Rivermark Community Credit Union branches in the Gresham and Clackamas.

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) – Divers have recovered the body of a 19-year-old Eugene man who was swept downstream while swimming in the Columbia River near The Dalles. Wasco County sheriff’s deputies say the Skamania County, Wash., sheriff’s dive team helped recover the body of James Hawkins yesterday.
