ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – A Benton County sheriff’s deputy, a Salem police officer and a fleeing suspect have been wounded after exchanging gun fire following a police chase. The Albany Democrat-Herald reports the officers and the suspect exchanged gunfire Saturday night about seven miles northwest of Albany. The two officers are described in serious condition at a hospital.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a 20-year-old woman has been critically injured after she sped away from officers and crashed into a telephone pole. KATU-TV says she injured a Portland police officer with her car before she sped away yesterday morning. Police say the officer’s injuries were minor. No charges were immediately filed. No names were released.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal magistrate judge says a search of a Portland police sergeant’s home by two fellow officers was valid. The Oregonian says a lawsuit filed last year by Richard Braskett against the officers culminated this month with the decision by U.S. Magistrate Judge Dennis J. Hubel, who said consent to the search by Braskett’s wife was valid and sufficient.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Wildfire managers say the massive Holloway fire in southeast Oregon continues to grow, but only marginally. The fire has burned 279 square miles of brush and sagebrush in Oregon and 218 square miles in Nevada. No occupied homes are threatened in the sparsely populated area, but a fire spokesman says several abandoned homes are being threatened.
