Local Sports – Eugene Emeralds and Ducks Sellout String

Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

The Eugene Emeralds wrapped up a three game home series against Salem-Keizer with two wins, 5-4 and 3-2 on Friday and Saturday.  Then, opened up a three game series in Everett against the Aqua-Sox with a 7-1 Sunday evening loss.  The Emeralds are two games behind Vancouver with 15 wins and 12 losses in the second half of the season.  There are 12 games remaining.

A string that goes back to September 25th, 1999 may be in jeopardy.  Beginning with that triple-overtime victory over the USC Trojans, the Oregon Ducks have played in front of sellout crowds at Autzen Stadium… even after the school increased the capacity from just under 42-thousand to 54-thousand to open the 2002 season.  Now, however, officials believe a combination of unfamiliar opponents; fewer than usual tickets sold to visiting fans; and September dates prior to students returning to classes are leaving the number-five ranked Ducks with about three thousand extra tickets for sale for each of the first three games.
