SEATTLE (AP) – Michael Saunders hit a pair of two-run home runs to help Seattle beat the Cleveland Indians 5-3 last night for the Mariners’ sixth straight victory. Saunders also hit a two-run homer on Sunday and now has a career high 13 homers. The Mariners have now won 13 of their last 14 games at Safeco Field. It’s the best home stretch over 14 games in franchise history.

SEATTLE (AP) – Indians closer Chris Perez says he won’t apologize after being caught on camera in a profanity-laced verbal exchange with a taunting Oakland A’s fan. Perez said yesterday before Cleveland’s game with Seattle that he doesn’t regret it. Perez says that particular fan has been riding him in Oakland for four years when he shags balls in the outfield before the game.

METAIRIE, La. (AP) – New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the club has traded an undisclosed draft choice to the Seattle Seahawks for veteran linebacker Barrett Ruud. The acquisition of Ruud, who is heading into his eighth NFL season, comes on the heels of injuries to three of the Saints’ top linebackers. Ruud had signed with the Seahawks last April.
