ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) – An argument between fishermen and loggers at an Astoria tavern turned into a street brawl. Police went to Annie’s Uppertown Tavern Saturday night on a report of at least 20 people fighting in the street. The Daily Astorian reports the dispute began with a bachelor party in the bar for a group of loggers. They argued with fishermen about which occupation was better and which job paid more money. No one was arrested because of what police called “mutual combat.”

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – The Umatilla County sheriff’s office says an 81-year-old who was struck and killed by a train near Pendleton lived near the tracks. Sheriff John Trumbo tells the East Oregonian the death yesterday appears to be an accident.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Salem police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a Walmart store as 28-year-old Bryan John Lee Knorr of Salem. The Statesman Journal says the victim had been shopping and was confronted by the suspect at around 6 a.m. Sunday. Police are looking for a Honda SUV hat is gold or tan in color.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Fire officials say a dramatic fire at vacant hotel in North Portland has caused an estimated $5.6 million in damages. Portland Fire & Rescue spokesman Michael Silva tells the Oregonian that arson has not been ruled out as a cause of the five-alarm fire that took more than 200 fire crew members from around the region to put out.
