CHEMULT, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police and the Klamath County district attorney’s office are investigating the death of a man after passers-by restrained him when they saw him behaving erratically. The Oregonian reports witnesses say the 52-year-old man crossed U.S. Highway 97 several times yesterday in the southern Oregon community of Chemult. He reportedly rolled around in the dirt behind a gas station and jumped in front of an ambulance before he headed toward a pregnant woman’s apartment.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Salem police have made an arrest in a fatal shooting that happened in the parking lot of a local Walmart store. Police detectives arrested 41-year-old Mark Edward Brown of Salem early yesterday in a Tigard hotel room. He was arrested for investigation of murder in Monday’s death of 28-year-old Bryan John Lee Knorr, also of Salem.

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A central Oregon man says three Great Pyrenees dogs used to protect sheep that graze in rugged terrain have been shot to death east of Prineville while they were on their owner’s property. KTVZ-TV reports investigators say the people involved in the shooting have been identified and the Crook County sheriff’s office has been in contact with the dog’s owner.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A new report says Oregon ranks fourth in the U.S. for illegal drug use by people 12 and older. The findings are based on a national survey that asked about drug use in the past 30 days. They were included in a report released yesterday by the state Department of Justice through a federal program that combats illegal drugs in areas with heavy trafficking.
