PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – It’s going to cost plenty to see Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan on Monday in Portland. Invitations to the private fundraiser say tickets range from $1,000 for admission to the general event at the Governor Hotel, $2,500 for a VIP photo, $10,000 for access to a technology innovator round table, and $25,000 for a private dinner. Ryan is making a similar fundraising stop in Seattle the same day.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Three Occupy Portland demonstrators are on trial for their arrests last November when the group was evicted from downtown parks. KATU reports they include a man accused of throwing a firecracker at an officer on horseback.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Members of the union representing workers at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland have approved a three-year contract. The Oregonian reports the contract approved yesterday by Local 328 of AFSCME provides a 7.5 percent pay hike and a 1 percent bonus in 2014. It limits pension costs by cutting contributions to the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System.

ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Ashland City Council has voted to ask Jackson County commissioners to protect organic farming in the county from genetically modified crops. Organic farmers said their crops could be contaminated by pollen drifting from fields of crops that have been genetically modified to repel insects or withstand weed killers.
