MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Prosecutors in Southern Oregon say two men caught a teenager sneaking into their medical marijuana grow to steal pot and tied him to a wheelchair for hours. The Medford Mail Tribune reports the two told authorities they had made a citizen’s arrest. But prosecutors says they went too far in 2010 when the teen was hit with a hammer handle and made to dig a grave before they let him go. In court this week Nicholas Jackson of Medford was sentenced to 18 months and Kekai Kuehu of Ashland got a 17-month suspended sentence.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Pape Machinery has purchased Fisher Farm & Lawn’s seven stores across Oregon. The former Fisher stores reopened Tuesday with the Pape name. Former Fisher President Patrick Richards tells The Oregonian that Pape retained most of Fisher’s 160 employees.

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) – Fort Carson has held a memorial service for two soldiers killed in an insider attack in Afghanistan. One of them was Spc. Mabry J. Anders of Baker City, Ore. They were honored at the service yesterday at the infantry post in Colorado Springs, Colo. They were shot by an Afghan policeman being trained by American troops on Aug. 27.

CORBETT, Ore. (AP) – A volunteer rescue team from the Oregon Humane Society has retrieved a 10-month-old hound mix named Riley who fell 120 feet down a ravine while on a hike in the Columbia River Gorge. The dog suffered scratches and bruises but had no apparent major injuries.
