TORONTO (AP) – Miguel Olivo hit a solo home run, Kevin Millwood won consecutive starts for the first time since May and the Seattle Mariners beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 last night. Millwood allowed two runs and two hits in five innings to win back-to-back starts for the first time since winning three straight from May 13-23. Tom Wilhelmsen earned his 26th save in 29 chances.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Katie Douglas scored 16 points and the Indiana Fever forced a franchise-record 28 turnovers in a 72-48 victory over the Seattle Storm last night. Tamika Catchings added 13 points, seven rebounds and a season-high six steals for the Fever (20-9), who have won eight of nine. Svetlana Abrosimova had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Storm.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll believes starting left tackle Russell Okung will be able to play on Sunday against Dallas, but he is unlikely to practice most of this week. Okung did not participate in practice yesterday. Okung suffered a bone bruise in his left knee late in the Seahawks’ 20-16 loss to Arizona on Sunday. He’ll be limited through the week.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – After struggling all of last season, Oregon State’s defense appears to have righted itself. The Beavers made a season-opening statement with a 10-7 victory over then-No. 13 Wisconsin last weekend – holding last year’s Big Ten champions scoreless until the final minutes. The Beavers held Wisconsin to 35 yards rushing and 207 yards of total offense.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland State coach Nigel Burton has dismissed defensive coordinator Eric Jackson effective immediately. The Vikings opened with a victory over lower-division Carroll College but fell 45-37 at North Dakota last weekend. Jackson joined Burton’s staff when he was named head coach in 2010. Burton says he will begin the search for a replacement immediately.
