SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Today is the deadline in Oregon to register for this year’s election. Voter registration forms must be postmarked by today. Anyone with an Oregon driver’s license or state-issued identification card can register online until 11:59 p.m. at www.oregonvotes.gov .

DENVER (AP) – Campaigns to legalize marijuana for recreational use in three Western states are courting conservatives to endorse their cause. Most Republicans oppose making pot legal in Oregon, Washington and Colorado. But a handful of conservatives have signed on, including former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo. He says the federal government’s prohibition on marijuana is the same as New York City’s ban on sugary sodas.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man was shot dead last night in northeast Portland. Police say the man died at the scene and they have no information about the shooter to release.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a woman suffered traumatic injuries last night in a hit-and-run in a northeast Portland neighborhood. The woman was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. Witnesses described the vehicle and police found it parked in the North Tabor neighborhood.
