HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Police in the Portland suburb of Hillsboro say a contractor in his 50s has died after falling more than 20 feet from a ladder. Hillsboro police Lt. Mike Rouches says the man was working yesterday on siding a vacant home to prepare it for sale. He died at the scene. Police did not immediately identify him pending notification of relatives.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – About 100 activists have gathered in northeast Portland to prevent the city from removing a woman from the foreclosed home she’s been occupying for six months.
