Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

The St. Paul Buckaroos tamed the Mapleton Sailors in three games last night to claim a win in the opening round of the OSAA 1A Volleyball playoffs.  The Bucks claimed game one 25-10, but things were much closer in the final two sets with the Sailors falling 25-19 and 25-20 to end their season.

Upcoming Playoffs

The Reedsport Braves will take on the Knappa Loggers at home Saturday afternoon at one to open the 2A playoffs.  Siuslaw will be at home Saturday evening at five against Madras to open the 4A post-season.  Ticket prices for both contests are six dollars for adults; four dollars for students.

Cross Country Polls

The Siuslaw Vikings continue their run atop the 4A Cross Country polls again this week headed into the state finals Saturday at LCC in Eugene.  The boys won the state title last year and are the favorites to repeat.  The Viking girls are number six with Klamath Union holding the top spot in the coach’s poll.

Prep Football Poll Tossed

First place votes in the AP football poll were split between three teams this week as Siuslaw dropped to number four following a loss last week to North Bend.  Gladstone is taking top honors followed by La Salle and Baker.  North Bend rose to number five followed by Cascade and North Valley who remain at six and seven.  Scappoose moved up two spots to eight; previously unranked Sweet Home is ninth and Cottage Grove fell five places to tenth.  Philomath didn’t make the top ten, but were just one point behind the Grovers in the scoring.  Siuslaw will host Ridgeview tomorrow night in a “play in” game with the winner advancing to the 4A playoffs.
