Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…
Tomorrow morning at Lane Community College in Eugene, the State 4A Cross Country Finals get underway. Siuslaw Coach Chris Johnson will have a team in both the girls and boys finals… the girls are contenders; if they have a good day; and Katy Potter is one of the top three runners in the state. The boys… they’re favored to repeat as champions. Some would say easily…
Chris Johnson – “But again, it’s… as good as I think we are, I mean historically speaking I think this is one of the stronger teams, that, on paper, I think that there’s been in a long time. Maybe ever.”
The coach says they don’t run races on paper… the Vikings will have to produce on the course. The girls run at 11 AM; the boys at 11:50.
Playoff volleyball is set for the court in Reedsport and Florence tomorrow… the Braves will host Knappa at one pm at Reedsport Charter High School. The Siuslaw Vikings will take on the Madras White Buffalo at five.
On the gridiron tonight… the Siuslaw Vikings will host Ridgeview in a game that will send the winner to the state playoffs. The school is fairly new and came about when the Redmond School District split the largest high school in the state. The Ravens played an independent schedule this season but ended the year with a 6-3 overall record; they’re 17th in the power rankings, two spots behind the 7-1 Vikings. Kickoff is set for seven o’clock… the pregame show on Coast Radio Sports is at 6:45.
There’s still regular season play at two other area schools… Reedsport will be at Coquille… Mapleton will be at Crow.
Turning to the college gridiron… Number two Oregon will be in Los Angeles tomorrow afternoon at four to face number 18 USC. The pregame show on KCST is set for 2:30. Oregon State is at home against South Division leader Arizona State at 7:30… the pregame on KCFM begins at 6:30.
