Local Sports – Vikings and Falcons to reprise 2011 championship game

Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

Viking football will be on the field in Milwaukie, Oregon tomorrow night as they take on the La Salle Falcons in the opening round of the OSAA 4A playoffs.  The Falcons, 7-2 overall, were undefeated with five wins in the Tri-Valley Conference and came out of the regular season as the number two rated team in the OSAA Power Rankings.  The teams’ two losses came early in the season… they opened with a 43-22 loss to McKinley High School out of Hawaii August 31st; then fell 38-34 to Philomath September 14th.

The Vikings and the Falcons had one common opponent this year… the Douglas Trojans.  La Salle beat them easily 44-14 while Siuslaw downed Douglas 28-14.  Siuslaw’s only loss of the season came two weeks ago in Florence where they fell 34-20 to North Bend.

This won’t be the first meeting for the two teams.  They fought it out December 3rd, 2011 in the state championship game with La Salle coming out on top 45-40.

Siuslaw travels to La Salle as the number eight seed in their bracket…the Falcons are number one.

Kick off is set for seven tomorrow… the pregame show on Coast Radio Sports airs at 6:45.
