OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Oregon City police have arrested the son of one of the suspects in a plot they say was led by an ex-cop who had a sex change operation, married a woman and then arranged to have her killed. Police said yesterday they picked up Jason Jaynes. They said he’s the son of Susan Campbell, arrested days after the 2011 slaying of Deborah Benton. On Wednesday, Lynn Benton was charged in Deborah Benton’s death. Lynn Benton, later fired from Gladstone police, married Deborah Benton after having a female-to-male sex-change.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Police have seized 67 guns – including semi-automatic rifles, pistols, shotguns and black powder firearms – in a raid on a medical marijuana site in Southern Oregon. The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that two people have been arraigned on charges stemming from the raid that also seized marijuana from a rural home in Selma. Police say Raymond Beairsto (BARE-stow) and Karen Beairsto face charges of illegal manufacture and sale of marijuana, and illegal possession of guns.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Early this morning searchers with the Multnomah County sheriff’s office found a hiker who had become lost on a trail around Horsetail Falls. The sheriff’s office says the 43-year-old Beaverton man was in good condition and able to walk out on his own. The man had called 911 last night and said he couldn’t see the trail.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County commissioners have appointed three people to fill vacancies on the board of an agency that provides water to 80,000 people in eastern Portland suburbs. Last week, two members of the board staged a coup, appointed two more people to fill board vacancies and then ousted staff members they’d been feuding with. Those acts may have been invalid for lack of a quorum.
