MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The federal government is attempting to seize two properties near Medford that were used to grow medical marijuana. The Mail Tribune reports federal prosecutors have filed forfeiture papers in federal court in Portland against land in the Applegate Valley where James Bowman grew High Hopes marijuana.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Police shot and wounded a man who confronted officers with a knife last night at an apartment in Hillsboro. Police told KGW the wounded man underwent surgery at a hospital and is expected to survive. Lt. Michael Rouches says officers were dispatched to a report the man had beaten his girlfriend and stabbed a neighbor who tried to help her.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Police used a flash-bang grenade in a Eugene parking lot to disorient a suspected gang leader they believe was about to commit a bank robbery. Thirty-four-year-old Beau Heleman Flynn was wearing a bulletproof vest yesterday when he was arrested Police say Flynn had been released from prison in September after a three-year sentence for being a felon in possession of a gun and body armor.

ATHENA, Ore. (AP) – Oregon Transportation Department officials say a small airplane made a successful emergency landing yesterday afternoon on State Highway 11 in northeast Oregon. It touched down in Athena, about 17 miles east of Pendleton. State Police briefly closed the road so the plane could be moved off the main highway and closed it again for a short time to allow the plane to take off.
