PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Josh Smith had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Kyle Korver added 16 points and the Atlanta Hawks snapped a two-game skid with a 95-87 win over the Portland Trail Blazers last night. Al Horford added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Atlanta, which was playing the second game of a four-game West Coast swing after losing 89-76 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. J.J. Hickson had 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Nicolas Batum (bah-TOOM’) scored 19 points to lead Portland.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Gary Bell Jr. scored 15 points and No. 19 Gonzaga crushed West Virginia 84-50 last night. Guy Landry Edi added 14 points for Gonzaga, which shut down the Mountaineer shooters. Kevin Pangos scored 13 points and Elias Harris chipped in 11 points for the Zags. Aaric Murray led West Virginia with 14 points, while Jabari Hinds added nine.

UNDATED (AP) – Freshman point guard Dominic Artis scored 16 points to lead Oregon over Portland State 80-69. Carlos Emory added 15 points and Damyean Dotson had 12 points and six rebounds for Oregon, which made 8 of its first 11 3-point attempts to build a big lead and never trailed in the game. Artis was 6 for 13 from the field and made four of Oregon’s nine 3’s.

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) – Stephen Maxwell had 21 points and 10 rebounds Monday night to lead Cal State Northridge past Eastern Washington 96-79. Brandon Perry had 19 points and 12 rebounds off the bench for the Matadors. Allen Guei added 10 points and five steals, and Josh Greene had 13 assists for Northridge. Martin Seiferth led all players with 27 points and 17 rebounds, and had seven blocked shots for Eastern Washington.

SEATTLE (AP) – Pete Carroll kicked his players out of the Seattle’s practice facility Monday with a simple message for their week off. Get some rest. Rather than starting to look ahead for their next game Nov. 28 at Miami, Carroll decided after 10 weeks it was best for the Seahawks – winners of two straight – to get an extended break. So following a short team meeting yesterday, the Seahawks were sent on their way. The Seahawks are 5-0 at home for the first time since 2005 when they won the NFC championship and played in their only Super Bowl.
