D.J. Shelton had a chance to ensure at least overtime for the Cougars when he went to the foul line with 17.5 seconds remaining. He managed to make the first free throw but missed the second, leaving his team clinging to a two-point lead as the Aggies raced up court, where Turner hit the winning shot.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – Ben Aird scored 25 points and Jason Johnson added 18 as Utah Valley overcame a double-digit second-half deficit to beat Eastern Washington 86-83 in a CBE Hall of Fame Classic game last night. SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Mariners have ended the disappointing tenure of Chone (shahn) Figgins in the Northwest, designating the veteran for assignment with one year remaining on his contract. Seattle made the move last night, one of a number of moves to get its 40-man roster set. Figgins never found success in Seattle after signing a $36 million, four-year deal in 2009.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Winston Guy has been suspended for four games without pay for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. The league announced the suspension yesterday. He will begin the suspension immediately and will be eligible to rejoin Seattle’s active roster Dec. 17.
