PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A climber who was stranded in a whiteout in Mount Hood is safely off the mountain in good condition. A Clackamas County sheriff’s dispatcher says the rescue team that found Jeff Kish around midnight had him back to the command post around 2 this morning. He did not need any medical attention. The 30-year-old Portland man had been in contact with deputies via cell phone, and using the phone to update Facebook.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Pacific Northwest grain shippers say there’s no lockout this morning at a half-dozen terminals along the Columbia River and on Puget Sound. The owners had given the International Longshore and Warehouse Union until midnight to accept what they describe as their “last, best and final” offer. Instead, the owners will respond today to comments received from the union about the offer.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – One of two University of Oregon distance runners injured when a large rock was dropped onto their car from an I-5 overpass has been released from a Eugene-area hospital. The university says Molly Grabill suffered a broken jawbone Monday night, as well as facial cuts that required stitches. He says she’ll need some dental work but no surgery. The school says runner Chris Brewer suffered only minor scrapes and bruises.

WARRENTON, Ore. (AP) – The Coast Guard has finished public hearings into the sinking of the fishing boat Lady Cecilia in March off the coast of Washington. All four people aboard were killed. The Daily Astorian reports that a marine salvage company owner testified this week in Warrenton, Ore., that the 70-foot vessel trawler may have gotten tangled in some errant crab pot lines, listing one way and then capsizing the other when a stabilizing device snapped off.
