COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – The Coast Guard reports it has recovered a man’s body near the Coos Bay jetty. The World newspaper says the Coast Guard retrieved the body yesterday afternoon at the request of the Coos County sheriff’s office. Petty Officer Shawn Eggert says the man was in his mid-60s and was not wearing a life vest. No debris or overturned boat was found to indicate that the man had been involved in a boating accident.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Any day now. The Oregon Zoo’s pregnant elephant Rose-Tu is showing some signs her labor is nearing. The zoo’s Mike Keele told The Oregonian that Rose seems to know what’s happening. Rose was in labor more than 30 hours before she gave birth in 2008 to her first calf.
