PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Portland Trail Blazers have laid off three longtime executives. The Blazers announced the layoffs yesterday, about a month after Chris McGowan became the new team president. Chief financial officer Gregg Olson had been with the Blazers for 10 years. Michele Daterman, who was the senior vice president of tickets and marketing, and Traci Reandeau, formerly the senior vice president of human resources, both had been with the team for some 18 years. All were let go.

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) – Stephen Madison scored 29 and Kyle Barone scored 20 to lead Idaho to an 81-79 overtime victory over Eastern Washington last night. Barone had 11 rebounds, and Madison had 10 to give both double-doubles. Connor Hill and Mansa Habeeb added 10 points apiece for the Vandals. Eastern Washington led 34-33 at halftime in a game that saw 22 lead changes. The Eagles’ Justin Crosgile had 26 points. Venky Jois had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas Reuter added 11 points.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Hospital officials say a Utah State basketball player who collapsed at practice has been moved out of the intensive care unit and upgraded to fair condition. Danny Berger remains at the Salt Lake City-area hospital. The 22-year-old Berger, a junior from Medford, Ore., collapsed on the court during a practice Tuesday in Logan. Utah State’s game Wednesday night against BYU was postponed. Tomorrow’s contest against Western Oregon is expected to be played as scheduled in Logan.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Sidney Rice and Golden Tate have become the go-to targets for Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Rice is having a career resurgence for the Seahawks after being healthy for the first time in three years. A hip injury derailed his final season in Minnesota and Rice signed with Seattle after the lockout. He couldn’t escape the injury bug last year, but this season, Tate has matched or exceeded his career-highs in catches (35), yards (486) and TDs (7).

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Beyond the common goal of notching another win, No. 20 Boise State and Washington are seeing different opportunities in the Las Vegas Bowl. Boise State coach Chris Petersen says the Dec. 22 game is a chance to show organizers of other bowls how many fans the Broncos can lure. Washington coach Steve Sarkisian says the bowl presents an opportunity for the Huskies to earn a place on the national stage. Washington, at 7-5, is making its first appearance in the bowl.
