PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Ryan Nicholas had 21 points and nine rebounds last night to lead Portland to a 69-51 victory over Cal State Bakersfield. Kevin Bailey added 18 points for the Pilots, who have won their last two after losing to UNLV and Kentucky. Thomas Van Der Mars scored 12 points for Portland.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Rookie safety Winston Guy has been reinstated from the suspended list by the Seattle Seahawks after missing the past four games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Seattle has received a roster exemption, but Guy cannot play until he is added to the active 53-man roster. Guy has been active for just two games this season for the Seahawks.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle coach Pete Carroll says even though the NFC West division lead won’t be at stake when the 49ers visit this weekend, his Seahawks will have no problem getting focused. The 49ers hold a 1 1/2-game lead in the division. A victory will put the Seahawks into the postseason for the second time in three years. The Seahawks need one win in their final two games to at least wrap up a wild-card berth.
