PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Triple-A reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline Oregon is $3.37, down 6 cents from last month. Some metro prices — Portland $3.35, Salem $3.38, Eugene-Springfield $3.42, Medford-Ashland $3.42.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police stepped up enforcement efforts on New Year’s Eve. Troopers say they made 39 DUI arrests between Dec. 31 and 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Twenty-six of those arrests were after midnight.

SEATTLE (AP) – The number of illegal immigrants in the Pacific Northwest who get deported keeps dropping. ICE says 6,700 immigrants were removed in fiscal year 2012 from Washington, Oregon and Alaska. That compares with a five-year high of 11,000 in 2008. The 2012 numbers also show that for the first time in five years, the number of illegal immigrants with criminal records declined.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Thanks to rain, 2012 was the fourth wettest year on record in the Corvallis area. The Albany Democrat-Herald reports Corvallis recorded 16 more inches of rain in 2012 than usual. That’s a total of nearly 59 inches of rain. Oregon as a whole had the second-driest summer period on record.
