ATLANTA (AP) – Matt Bryant kicked a 49-yard field goal with 8 seconds left and the Atlanta Falcons bounced back after blowing a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter, defeating Russell Wilson and the gutty Seattle Seahawks 30-28 in an NFC divisional playoff game yesterday. The Falcons appeared ready to allow the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in NFL playoff history when Marshawn Lynch scored on a 2-yard run with 31 seconds left. But Matt Ryan completed two long passes after the kickoff, setting up Bryant’s winning kick and sending the Falcons to the NFC championship game for only the third time in franchise history.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Kevin Durant had 33 points and the Oklahoma City Thunder snapped Portland’s nine-game winning streak at the Rose Garden with an 87-83 victory over the Trail Blazers. Russell Westbrook added 18 points and nine assists for the Thunder. LaMarcus Aldridge had 33 points and 11 rebounds for the Blazers, who trailed by 11 but pulled within one point on Nicolas Batum’s (bah-TOOMZ’) 3-pointer with 21.9 seconds to go. Kendrick Perkins missed the first of two free throws and after a timeout Aldridge missed a fade-away jumper from about 20 feet out with 1.7 seconds left. Westbrook the made a pair of foul shots.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Tony Woods scored 14 points for Oregon, including the go-ahead dunk in the final minutes, as the Ducks held on to defeat Arizona State 68-65. Damyean Dotson and Carlos Emory scored 14 points apiece for Oregon; Dominic Artis added 10. Jahii Carson scored 20 points, and Evan Gordon had 17 for the Sun Devils. Carson’s potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer was wide. A 3-pointer by Felix with 2:08 to play put ASU up 60-59, but Woods answered for the Ducks with a two-handed slam to put Oregon up 61-60 with 1:44 left. Oregon then went 7 of 8 from the free-throw line in the final minute.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Jasmine Dixon tied her season high with 13 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, and No. 14 UCLA overcame a turnover-plagued first half to post its sixth straight victory, beating Washington 85-68. Five Bruins scored in double figures. Atonye Nyingifa had 17 points, Markel Walker scored 11 and Alyssia Brewer and Thea Lemberger each scored 10. UCLA committed 16 turnovers in the first half, the most the Bruins have turned it over in any half this season. Jazmine Davis scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Huskies, and Talia Walton added 18.
