FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) – A Washington County sheriff’s deputy was shot last night at Forest Grove while responding to a disturbance between an off-duty Hillsboro officer and his wife. The deputy’s wound is described as non-life-threatening. The Oregonian reports the Hillsboro officer was arrested on multiple charges and booked into jail. The man’s wife and their 6-year-old daughter were not hurt. Police were trying to talk to the off-duty officer about the domestic disturbance when the shooting took place.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a 42-year-old man due in court tomorrow for arraignment was drunk when the pickup truck he was driving red light, collided with a taxi cab and struck two pedestrians, killing one. Brent Warstler of Cornelius was charged with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault and other crimes following the collision in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood early yesterday. Police say his truck veered onto a sidewalk after colliding with the taxi. Rebecca Bray of Gresham was killed and another woman was critically hurt but is expected to survive.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – There were plenty of signs of trouble at a Marion County animal rescue operation before it was raided by authorities who seized 140 dogs and arrested three board members. The Statesman Journal reports that deputies raided the Willamette Animal Rescue on Jan. 13, seizing dogs that were emaciated and suffering from ringworm, mange, eye infections and parasites. Each of the board members faces more than 100 counts of animal neglect.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon state police say a 16-year-old girl found dead along Highway 6 east of Tillamook was shot. KATU-TV says Kayla Ann Hendrickson was from the Beaverton area. An autopsy conducted yesterday confirmed Hendrickson died of gunshot wounds. Police say a person of interest in the case fatally shot himself in northern California Saturday. The man’s name was not immediately released.
